Background of the Study
Digital transformation has revolutionized supply chain processes, introducing advanced technologies that enhance efficiency, visibility, and collaboration. Technologies such as blockchain, the Internet of Things (IoT), and data analytics have enabled companies to streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve decision-making (Ogunleye & Hassan, 2023). For Guinness Nigeria, a leading player in the Nigerian beverage industry, digital transformation is crucial to addressing operational challenges and meeting consumer demands in a competitive market.
In Taraba State, where infrastructural limitations pose significant challenges, digital transformation provides opportunities to overcome traditional supply chain barriers. However, the adoption of digital technologies in supply chains is not without hurdles, including high implementation costs, technical complexities, and resistance to change (Adeoye et al., 2024). This study examines the impact of digital transformation on supply chain processes at Guinness Nigeria, highlighting its benefits, challenges, and future potential.
Statement of the Problem
The efficiency and effectiveness of supply chain processes are critical to the success of businesses operating in competitive markets. Despite the growing emphasis on digital transformation, many companies, including Guinness Nigeria in Taraba State, struggle to fully integrate digital technologies into their supply chain operations. Challenges such as limited access to advanced infrastructure, high costs, and a lack of technical expertise hinder the adoption of digital tools, affecting operational efficiency and customer satisfaction (Aliyu & Adamu, 2023).
Existing literature on digital transformation in supply chains often overlooks its application in regions with infrastructural deficits, such as Taraba State. This study addresses this gap by evaluating the impact of digital transformation on supply chain processes at Guinness Nigeria.
